Abstract:
Academic advisors often face a say-do gap where institutional rhetoric regarding student success is undermined by operational realities like unsustainable caseloads. This Lightning Round empowers frustrated advisors to become 'tempered radicals'-professionals who drive incremental change while maintaining their integrity. By blending Debra Meyerson's framework with NACADA Core Values, participants learn to use their institution's mission and vision as a tool for strategic advocacy and personal resilience. The session includes a Micro-Activity where attendees draft a Mission-First response to a common institutional contradiction. Attendees will leave with one concrete action to reclaim their agency and align their daily practice with their professional purpose. This session is a call to meet in the middle between systemic pressure and personal passion.
