Abstract:

American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) and Advising Success Network (ASN) are partnering to celebrate American Indian Alaskan Native ways of knowing and holistic approaches for students, to bolster their success. Using ASN's FREE resources and courses, as well as customized and contextualized ASN workshops and services, TCUs are celebrating the approaches already in place at TCUs and leveraging the approaches from ASN workshops to enhance holistic advising approaches in the Tribal College setting. Join this session to learn about how TCUs are applying culturally relevant models for holistic student support, incorporating Indigenous epistemological thought and practice, and supporting Native students in their college journeys. Practitioners will share lessons learned, holistic approaches, day-to-day student engagement strategies, and will encourage attendees to develop and implement their own. |
