Abstract:
|
The distinction between faculty and professional advisors can create distance at times. However, it's at the cost of the students. In this presentation, we aim to highlight the importance of faculty advisor and professional advisor collaboration. Supported by a quantitative analysis conducted at our institution, we tackle the issue of how faculty and professional advisors can collaborate to optimally advise students. We will use a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative survey data with an ordinal logistic regression analysis. All empirical evidence shown aims to highlight the need for faculty and advisors to provide a holistic approach to helping students. We will then use research-based evidence to offer practitioner-based strategies to start a meaningful discussion of how student success and persistence is a collaborative effort from both faculty and professional advisors. |
