Abstract:
|
Being a parent of a neurodiverse child feels isolating at times, especially when people tend to see highlight reels constantly. This session will include a panel of advisors who are also parents to a neurodiverse child, including experiences with: ADHD, Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, and Sensory Processing Disorder. The parents on the panel all agreed that being a parent of child who is neurodiverse has made us better advocates for our students in regards to connecting students with resources, and enhancing our own compassion in having a more nuanced understanding of challenges people who are neurodiverse face compared to neurotypical people.
Come to learn or to meet others in your community, while understanding that this is not a panel of experts. |
