Abstract:
|
A Seat at the Table: Advisor Involvement in Academic Program Review, Assessment, and Accreditation
Assessment, accreditation, and academic program review are core academic affairs functions that shape curriculum, learning outcomes, resource decisions, and academic program prioritization. Yet many academic advisors are only loosely connected to these processes, even though advisors sit closest to the student experience. This session will demystify how these continuous improvement cycles typically work, make the case for advisor involvement, and highlight what meaningful engagement can look like across academic program development and review, course and program level assessment, and program and institutional accreditation. Participants will leave with practical entry points for involvement, strategies for advocating for advisor input when the system is not designed to include it, and a clear connection between this work, campus influence, and professional growth. |
