Title: Retention by Design: High-Impact Practices That Deliver Results
Lead Presenter: Zoranna Jones
Date: October 05, 2026    Time: 2:45 pm - 3:40 pm
Room: Automobile Alley ABC - Omni
Abstract: Retention is not accidental — it is designed. Institutions that see measurable gains in persistence intentionally align advising, engagement, financial support, and academic recovery strategies within a coordinated framework. This session explores high-impact practices that have demonstrated improved retention, including proactive outreach models, structured engagement pathways, and redesigned academic recovery processes. Leaders will examine what actually moves the retention needle and how to align efforts across departments to create a cohesive student experience.
Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
• Identify high-impact retention practices supported by research and data
• Evaluate the effectiveness of current proactive outreach strategies
• Design or refine an academic recovery pathway
• Align engagement initiatives with measurable retention goals
• Articulate one coordinated strategy to improve persistence on their campus
