Say It Like You Mean It: Building Belonging One Conversation at a Time
Our words, and the way we deliver them, have the power to shape perspectives, build bridges, and transform experiences. In today's increasingly diverse and interconnected environments, inclusive communication is more than a best practice; it's a necessity. This session explores how inclusive language and person-centered approaches can enhance advising interactions, promote equitable decision-making, and foster a more inclusive campus culture. Whether drafting documents, leading meetings, or creating multimedia, attendees will gain practical strategies to "walk the talk" and build inclusive environments that reduce barriers, prevent misunderstandings, and empower individuals from all backgrounds to participate fully. This session provides practical tools for advisors, leaders, and policymakers to create environments where every voice is heard, every person feels valued, and communication serves as a catalyst for equity and belonging. |
