Abstract:
|
This presentation will discuss modern students' high-touch, high-stakes, and high-tech college transition advising needs and how theory and application may assist attendees in bridging the gap between what our students need and what our institutions offer and how. To do this, the presenter will take attendees on a journey through the establishment of a common knowledge base (foundation), into review of a model used for immediate debate and discussion, onto later application and lasting motivation to identify the needs of today's students transition into the college system and how our unique advising apparatuses can best meet our student populations' myriad needs. Materials and methods used will include: presentation/lecture and visual aids of key theory and core concepts, template/model for immediate application and later replication, and discussion of major takeaways and next steps towards creating reliable and valid action plans for future research and/or praxis. |
