Abstract:

The Momentum Model
Retention is a psychological process, not just a logistical one. Traditional advising often focuses on institutional checkpoints, yet the true 'equalizer' for student success is self-efficacy. Join the author of the Momentum Model to explore a published framework designed to convert student belief into measurable institutional results.
This virtual session breaks down the four critical movements, Awareness, Alignment, Action, and Advancement, to help advisors and administrators move beyond reactive crisis management. Attendees will learn how to identify 'momentum-stalling' policies and implement 'Advising Pivots' that build student confidence. Participants will receive a Digital Momentum Toolkit, including a departmental audit tool and an advising script. Whether you are a front-line advisor or a campus leader, you will leave with a scalable blueprint for building an efficacy-first culture that drives both performance and persistence. |
