Abstract:
|
In today's outcome driven higher education landscape, academic advisors serve as essential guides in the "middle" where student exploration meets career development. This session reviews the evolving role of academic advisors through these transitional spaces-moments where students move from uncertainty to clarity, from questions to goals, and from academic experiences to career readiness.
Participants will understand the distinctions and overlaps between academic advising and career services. The session provides practical, scalable strategies for embedding career conversations into everyday advising interactions. Through collaborative activities and applied techniques, attendees will leave with tools to strengthen student engagement, deepen meaning-making, and improve readiness for life beyond graduation.
Whether advising first-year students, transfers, graduate learners, or those nearing completion, advisors can be empowered to confidently navigate the middle spaces students encounter and help them move toward purposeful career pathways. |
