Abstract:
|
As professional college advisors who work alongside peer advisors (PA), we have witnessed firsthand how PAs play a crucial role in fostering college success. PAs provide relatable guidance to fellow students navigating the complexities of degree requirements and college life. PAs offer insights based on personal experiences, which fosters trust that encourages students to continue to seek guidance and support. PAs understand unique challenges students face, enabling them to offer tailored advice on study strategies, time-management, and coping mechanisms. Their approachability creates a supportive environment where students feel comfortable. PAs bridge the gap between students and professional advisors, advocating for student needs. PAs contribute to reducing the workload of professional advisors, aiding in more efficient and effective advising services. While PAs promote success among fellow students, they build upon their own leadership and professional skills. |
