Abstract: Title: Academic Standing Recovery Program: from Development to Assessment
Have you given thought to how advisors can increase a sense of belonging for students below good standing? Academic advisors at one 4-year public university certainly have! In 2021, Administration instituted a deadline which required students to have at least 14 days notice before an academic dismissal. One of the results of this deadline is that students below good standing cannot be dismissed after fall and winter terms. Allowing students below good standing to remain continually enrolled meant that a more robust and proactive advising program became an utmost necessity. Adopting a student-centered flipped advising approach, a 'Colleges Advising Academic Recovery Program' was developed by a committee of academic advisors. Attend this session to learn about the development and assessment of this program!
