Abstract:
|
There is a push in higher education to focus on better customer service for students, leading institutions to examine their policies and processes to improve student satisfaction and retention. What if excellent service isn't enough? Hospitality focuses on relationships and how people feel receiving a service. Building on existing advising theory like Appreciative Advising, and incorporating principles from the hospitality industry, this session aims to help advisors reframe their approach to working with students and provide tools to develop relationships that keep students engaged, contributing to their success. Participants are invited to share best practices and collaborate on new approaches through roundtable discussions during the session. Participants will also review feedback provided by students detailing how their needs are met and how advisors make them feel welcome. |
