Abstract:
|
'Helping Students Towards their Good Life: A Differentiated Care Model for Parallel Planning.'
When it comes to advising students for success, we all face challenging conversations surrounding students who need to generate alternative plans. We present a method to handle these kinds of situations that will allow students avenues for recognition, reflection, and empowerment in their academic and professional journey. As advisors we aim to uplift and help our students achieve their dreams. We share in their successes and their setbacks, and always strive to turn their setbacks into opportunities. Our approach connects student values with their goals and allows them to redirect their energies in positive ways through conceptual parallel planning through a differentiated care model. This process is a way for each student to realize their own 'good life.' |
