Abstract:
|
This presentation delves into the transformative role of generative AI in academic advising, emphasizing its ability to elevate student engagement and achievement. Adopting 'flipped advising' principles, generative AI empowers students to handle routine inquiries, conduct interest and skill audits, and explore major and degree options independently. This shift allows advisors to focus on strategic advice and complex issues. We will present use cases evidencing AI's impact on enhancing advising interactions, underscored by trial results showing marked improvements in adoption, engagement and satisfaction among students and advisors. Emphasizing the integration of generative AI into advising processes promises a more tailored, efficient, and impactful educational journey. Our aim is to foster the embrace of innovative technologies within academic advising, pushing forward the evolution of student support services and educational outcomes. |
