Abstract:
|
Advising administrators and especially those responsible for supervising advisors are in a unique position to influence and provide sustainable support and guidance for the advising profession. Many advisors aspire to become supervisors and many supervisors come into the role with little or no experience, support, guidance, or training. This panel discussion provides a forum for experienced supervisors to provide tips and support to those thinking about moving into a supervisory role including various communication techniques, considerations for training and development, how to have difficult conversations, and ways to celebrate equity and inclusion in the supervisory role. We encourage those who are currently in the role to join us in the conversation. Come prepared to hear a candid, reflective and honest assessment of the role that supervisors of advisors play in the wonderful world of academic advising. |
