Title: Who Am I? Connecting with Students to Engage in Exploratory Practices
Lead Presenter: Teena Brooks
Date: December 31, 1969    Time: 6:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Room:
Abstract: The first year of college is intimidating but imagine thinking you must have it all planned out too! What happens when your original idea of a major doesn't work out? Students place a lot of pressure on themselves when thinking they have to declare a major in their first semester and plan out a future. For some students, that plan does not end up working out, leaving them feeling defeated and wondering what to do. In our quest to help students explore, we have utilized different activities that focus on values, interests, experiences, and connections. This presentation will explain the different tools used with students and discuss the impact self-exploration has had on the overall exploratory process.
