Abstract: A holistic advisor training and professional development program must meet the needs of new advisors beginning their practice and the continued growth of seasoned advisors. From this complex challenge, the University Advising Academy was created. The Academy provides training on foundational competencies for new advisors and continues to support advisors throughout their careers with a yearly digital badging and certification program. This program is designed to motivate and engage the advising community in ongoing professional development to improve practice and stay current on trends in higher education.

The objective of this presentation is to provide insights and artifacts into the creation, assessment, and continued growth of an advising training and professional development program. Objectives will be met by sharing the program structure, tools, and the competencies matrix used to assess program content.
