Abstract:

Dynamite Lessons from Napoleon: Building Connections Through Professional Development and Training
With each dilemma faced, Napoleon Dynamite showed us how to connect with others, live life with humor, and overcome obstacles. In its 20 years, the film has taught us to get some 'sweet skills.' This fun presentation will ask you to consider how you can apply lessons from Napoleon to improve collaboration and belonging for advisors. Presenters will share research findings on the importance of connecting, an overview of their campus advising association and professional development, and participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own structures and ways to improve. Whether you're a Dynamiter or a first-timer to the movie, there will be takeaways for you to enhance your connections with other advisors. |
