Abstract:
|
How does an advising unit meet the increasing demands of a growing undergraduate student population at an institution with strained financial resources? When advising leaders are charged with developing a way to engage faculty as part of the undergraduate advising process, an engineering college at an R1 institution works to create training, resources, and support for faculty to be effective in their new faculty adviser role. Existing faculty assets are identified, cultural and professional barriers are acknowledged, and a description of proposed resources and training available to faculty to support them in this role are shared. |
