Abstract:
|
At a global level, institutions of higher education seek to improve student success through measures designed to improve student retention, progression and completion (RPC). These goals can be particularly challenging to achieve when supporting STEM majors; a population of students that are accustomed to cultivating success, engaging in rigorous course loads and reluctant to ask for support. This session will outline the process one college has created to use data-supported interventions, partnerships with deans and faculty, extensive student tracking, targeted outreach and an innovative academic advising approach to foster student success and increase their first-year retention by nearly 10% and double their 6-year graduation rate over a 10-year period. |
