Abstract: Do History Majors Get Jobs? What Advisors Need to Know about History and the Humanities
What do advisors need to know about student learning and employability in history and humanities programs more generally? Presentations will provide clear language on the features and benefits of undergraduate study in history and the humanities. Attendees will become familiar with multiple, national datasets available to support student decision-making about academic degree plans, as well as humanities career outcomes in the wide world. Participants will be better able to help advisees consider how learning history, whether in gen ed history courses or even a history major or minor, can help them toward their college and career goals. Attendees will also have time for discussion and Q&A on common issues and concerns in advising history and humanities students.
