Abstract:
|
Graduate advisors are now trying to manage the societal expectations of what it means to be a graduate student with a unique population of delayed adolescents (21- 30 years of age) among the graduate student population already widening with generational differences, learning styles, and shifting visa requirements. Given the change in overall student engagement and preferred learning styles, graduate advisors are dealing with the increased demands for a 'hand-held' advising experience in a challenging climate of civility.
Through guided open discussion and using the surveyed experiences of participants, this session conversation will identify coping strategies and best practices for graduate advisors. Strategies that strive to empower and enable graduate students towards achieving resilience, independence, and degree ownership. |
