Financial Advising: Practices from the Field to Promote Student Success and Educational Equity
According to Shaffer (2014), educating students in basic personal finance and supporting them in establishing healthy habits can help prevent students from engaging in risky behaviors. The practice of financial advising is increasing at campuses across the United States as it can be a very important tool to promote student success and well-being. Even more so, financial advising can promote better success outcomes for students of color (Robb & Woodyard, 2012, Chen, 1998). Financial advising is not limited to a single individual, department, or institution. The presentation will engage participants discussing innovative financial advising best practices that 9 institutions have implemented that are successful. Join us to learn more about the important role that financial advising plays in student success! |
