Abstract:
|
Hospitality is how you make a person feel, service is what you do for someone. Many academic advisors serve the student by providing advising services, but service is not the same as hospitality. How are students feeling after their advising session? Do we leave them feeling... Motivated? Uninspired? Optimistic? Each student's academic experience is unique and is comprised of many factors such as repeating a course, taking a course out of sequence, engagement within the major/college, within their intended career, etc.....
This presentation will show you how effective hospitality intervention can be and how Hospitalian advising can be incorporated within your advising practices not by just providing the service of advising but more importantly how we are making the student feel after the advising session, ultimately positively effecting student outcomes. |
