Abstract:
|
How can we help students to see and understand themselves within our advising interactions? This session explores how we can foster self-discovery and meaning-making as student outcomes of the advising relationship. Drawing from the therapeutic fields of existential phenomenological analysis and somatic attachment, we will learn how to craft and reflect phenomenological impressions which allow students to feel seen, and thus to see themselves. We will also explore the existential and somatic work that we can practice for our own growth as advisors, as well as the impact of incorporating existential and relational paradigms into our philosophy of advising. |
