Abstract:
|
Advisors, Championing the Lives and Academics of College Students with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Since COVID-19, the rates of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) have risen in college students. Research suggests that OCD may be more common on campus than previously thought. It is likely that we all have students on our caseload with this potentially disabling illness. How can an advisor recognize the signs/symptoms of OCD in students who may not understand their own experience? How do the signs/symptoms of ODC impact a student's academic performance, or even an advisor's visit with the student? In this presentation together we will examine and discuss answers to these questions. Championing advisors to be both the champions and a vital part of the advocacy advisement team for college students with OCD. |
