Abstract:
|
The Laker Accelerated Talent Link program was launched as an innovative enhanced co-operative educational experience which layers professional certificates on top of a liberal education. Essential learning outcomes of liberal arts are similar to skills valued by employers and the program's success is largely dependent on the collaboration between academic advisors, career services, and community partners. However, many students still perceive limited internship and post-graduation options. Only 30% of liberal arts students do internships, and over half are unpaid. These experiences are valuable, but the financial burden of unpaid internships is a concern for students.The main focus of LATL is to help provide students with equitable and inclusive experiences and career pathways - sometimes in areas they might not have considered previously thereby expanding their neighborhood. |
