Yet to Thrive: Leveraging Early Intervention to Help Our Neighbors
Traditional early alert systems are often deployed too late in a semester for interventions to positively affect a student's academic outcome. Often, early key indicators demonstrate the need for additional support that contribute to student success. The Yet to Thrive initiative identifies student behaviors in the first ten days of the semester that have ripple effects throughout their schedule, where a collaboration of faculty, advisors, and campus resources works to build a network to support a student's ability to Thrive. Interventions from the Yet to Thrive initiative led to increased academic progress and retention at the university. This presentation focuses on the need for earlier student interventions and how to create a similar model in collaboration with faculty and campus resources. |
