Welcome Neighbor: Online Advisors and the Informational Core Competency; A Panel Discussion
The NACADA Core Competencies provides a framework for advisors to engage in self-reflection and self-evaluation. It is important to examine and expand upon this for various academic advising contexts, including distance, hybrid, and remote advising. This panel will bring together advisors utilizing remote academic advising methods to learn from each other, share promising practices of how we guide students through curriculum, policies, resources, and community development, while also championing advisors as helpers no matter the setting. It is also part of a larger examination of the efficacy of NACADA's Core Competencies as related to remote advising. Hybrid and distance advisors from a variety of institutions will share experiences utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous technologies and how these relate to the Informational Core Competency. |
