Abstract: How can you advise, coordinate, operate, and manage an advising office cost effectively? How can you relate to relevant academic and social topics with the students you advise? The answer is student/peer workers! Our office advises 8000 undergraduate students and our peer team made up of front desk, study abroad advisors, mentors, and advisors are instrumental to the success of students at our institution. Come learn how this award-winning model can be adapted to your own institution. Learn how to have a 99% satisfaction in the service your office provides to students. This session will look at peer mentor theoretical frameworks and participants will learn how to 1. Recruit 2. Train 3. Manage 4. Retain 5. Innovate with peer workers. Come learn how our model has succeeded and start or enhance your current practices!
