Abstract:
|
Academic advisors routinely engage in difficult conversations with students. Despite this, relatively little scholarship on this pertinent topic exists, and that which does focuses predominantly on specific student problems or student populations. Difficult conversations, however, can center on a wide variety of topics and involve students from various cohorts. Given this reality, this presentation adopts a framework built by Stone, Patton, and Heen (2023) for use in corporate America and applies it to higher education, thus providing academic advisors with a modified framework for navigating difficult conversations with students. |
