Title: No Longer in the Neighborhood: Navigating Remote Advising Realities in a Hybrid World
Remote work, once predominant, is now declining as in-office presence rebounds post-pandemic. Despite this, many advising sessions remain remote. Hybrid work scenarios are becoming increasingly prevalent, and advising offices must navigate this new norm. This presentation delves into the stories of a fully remote advisor and a hybrid advisor successfully guiding on-campus and remote students at a large public institution from thousands of miles away. This presentation underscores the challenges and advantages of remote and hybrid work situations relevant to all. The advisors will share insights on lessons learned and ways to connect with students creatively. Additionally, the advisors' supervisor will discuss the experiences and challenges of remote supervision. Whether you're an advisor seeking innovative connections with students, a supervisor refining skills, or even another remote advisor, this presentation provides pertinent and timely insights. |
