This presentation offers a comprehensive exploration of faculty advising as it pertains to the professionalism of academic advising. It delineates the roles of faculty and professional advisors, emphasizing the critical need for ongoing training and development. Highlighting the benefits of successful faculty advisor-student relationships, the session discusses their pivotal role in connecting with academics and career planning. However, the session also acknowledges the challenges faculty members face such as technological barriers and unclear expectations. The presenter targeted initiatives from their central advising center to support faculty advisors, including training programs and building mentoring relationships.
