Abstract:
|
What happens when students have no neighborhood? Supporting Foster Youth and Homeless Students
Students who have experienced foster care or homeless have a national graduation rate of less than 10%. Research shows that campus support programs can significantly help improve and increase the outcomes of foster youth, as well as those who experience homelessness. This interactive session will provide in depth detail of a campus support program, explain how utilizing the Appreciative Advising Framework is used to support the needs of foster youth, and conclude with an open discussion for how you can implement similar support efforts on your campus. |
