Abstract: Lessons Learned: Launching a Community Mentorship Program
In this presentation, members of the Advising Student Athletes Steering Committee will describe their recent experience in launching a Mentorship program within the Advising Student Athletes community to support recruitment and retention within the specific Advising Community and the larger NACADA population. One of the benefits of NACADA membership is the shared experience of advisors at many different types of institutions. In that diversity, there can be challenges to creating valuable connections between advisors at similar schools or in similar roles extending beyond the regional and annual conferences. This presentation will discuss the complexities and successes in the 2024 pilot Mentorship program, future plans for the program, and takeaways for NACADA members interested in creating similar programs.
