Title: Walking Across the Stage: The Power of Senior Level Stop Out Recovery Programs
Lead Presenter: Marissa Fowler
Date: October 27, 2025    Time: 9:15 am - 10:15 am
Room: Neopolitan II, Promenade Level
Abstract: It's after the registration period. Do you know where your seniors are? This presentation will focus on senior stop-outs: students who left the institution just before earning their bachelor's degree. Seniors have invested their time, energy, and money into obtaining a degree and often depart without the credentials they worked hard to achieve. Discover how a small team (like one person and a graduate assistant) developed a scholarship and mentoring program to assist students in returning to complete their degrees. The session will use real student stories to highlight ways to identify your senior-level stop-outs, evaluate institutional policies that contribute to stop-out behavior, and discuss the small changes you can implement to encourage your students to return. Learn why senior-level students leave and what institutions can do to transform their drop-outs into stop-outs.
