Abstract:
|
Can continuous self-assessment help advisors consistently meet programming outcomes? Absolutely! Building on our 2021 regional conference session, Make Assessment Happen to Make Advising Practice Better, this session highlights the value of advisor self-assessment. We use our appointment service log as a data collection tool to reflect and measure the effectiveness of our practice without relying on direct student-input. Presenting four years of data, this session offers a critique of our process and its impact on our advising practice. Key findings reveal integration of career exploration with major exploration is lower for a) students who present as decided than undecided, and b) for students in an undeclared program than in a declared major. This truly beautiful assessment method sets a baseline for our practice and is consistent and sensitive enough to detect differences among student populations. |
