Abstract:

Professional development opportunities for advisors vary widely by department and institution, often due to internal factors such as cost and time constraints. Because these opportunities can help improve job satisfaction and reduce burnout, it is important to look for creative and accessible ways to support the ongoing growth of advisors at different stages in their advising careers. In this presentation, we will share an example of a home-grown, cost-effective professional development program that is advisor-led and designed to provide experienced advisors opportunities for reflection, growth, and advancement. Attendees will learn about our model and explore implications for in-house advisor development in their own contexts. |
