Staff Retention: Making Sense of Why Advisors Stay
Advising is notoriously a high turnover field. Have you ever wondered why some advisors stay when so many others choose to leave? This presentation will include findings from interviews with academic advisors from across the country who have been in the field for a minimum of five years. It will provide insight into the reasons that some advisors choose to stay in a field that is known for high turnover. The session will include an overview of staff retention research, findings from this recent study, practical applications of the findings, and discussion of areas for future research. Attendees can expect to participate in discussion and leave with ideas on how to better support themselves, their staff, and their colleagues in a high turnover field. |
