Abstract:
|
We struggle to know if the emails we send students are being read or understood. Are we communicating what we need in a mutually beneficial way? This session will allow attendees to consider their advising philosophies, preferred (or new) advising models/approaches, academic or student success priorities, resource identification/usage, language, and peripheral tools like text messaging or social media, to build an intentional email communication plan for relationship building. Particular attention will be paid to Appreciative Advising concepts and students in STEM, but this session is appropriate for those who advise other special populations like academic recovery, first-year, or exploring students. |
