Title: Connecting NACADA Core Values and Job Duties: Meaningful Advisor Performance Evaluations
Lead Presenter: Beth Yarbrough
Date: October 06, 2020    Time: 1:35 pm - 2:20 pm
Room: Live
Abstract: Our University undertook a comprehensive review of the academic advising position, prompting significant changes in job descriptions, promotion requirements, and the performance evaluation plan. Incorporating NACADA's Core Values, the review committee identified five values linked to performance and essential job functions. The evaluation plan strengthens conversations between advisors and administrators, and provides a clear path to promotion. This session will review the development of Auburn's core advising values, the relationship between these values and essential job functions, the evaluation workbook, the rubric used to measure performance, and the direct connection between performance and promotion. Presenters are members of the review committee and represent advisors and administrators. Information about implementation, and feedback on the new process will be included.
