Title: Development and Practice of Training Program in Japanese Higher Education
Lead Presenter: Eiko Shimizu
Date: On-Demand
Room: On Demand
Abstract: The purpose of this presentation is to share the results of the research on professional development for faculty and staff responsible for an academic advising at Japanese Higher Education. There are three characteristics in Japanese higher education: 1. academic advising as a function, 2. job rotation system among non-academic staff, and 3. the absence of systemic framework for professional development on student support. We held two kinds of professional development programs for student support services; an Academic Advising 'SALON' and one-day assessment program. In the presentation, the presenters will share the current conditions, issues of professional development for academic advising in Japan, and the results of assessment worksheet form training programs.
