Title: A Beautiful Minimalist Day: Championing Advisors Reducing Clutter & Prioritizing What Matters
Lead Presenter: David Spinner
Date: December 31, 1969    Time: 6:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Room:
Abstract: Advisors are often told to do more with less. Roles have expanded from advising students on what classes to take, to recruiting, coordinating commencement, teaching, career services, committees and more. Oh, and why don't you add a pursuit of a doctoral degree as well? Office and living space clutter only exacerbates the problem. This can lead to advisors becoming overwhelmed and burned out and ultimately less effective. We should be devoted to the pursuit of less which in turn can be modeled for our students.

This presentation introduces minimalist and essentialist concepts that Marie Kondo, The Minimalists, Greg McKeown among others have popularized to pursue in leading a meaningful advising career and life as well as modeling and teaching this way of life to students.
