Abstract: The Beauty of Storytelling: Exploring Narrative Theory in Academic Advising

Do some of our connections feel less intentional, dynamic, or engaging? Given today's challenges, and what we think, live, learn, dream, connect, and construct in our lives through story, it stands to reason we could intentionally use narrative theory as a lens to enhance our Academic Advising practice. In this session, we will move beyond 'once upon a time' to review some theoretical approaches to story, brainstorm creatively regarding story's ability to inform us and connect to others, and partake in an activity that builds connections using narrative theory. Let's embark together on a journey of connection through storytelling.
