Title: Building a Healthy Team Culture: Inspiring Courage and Connection in Student Services
Lead Presenter: Brianna Harvie
Date: October 28, 2025    Time: 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Room: Milano Ballroom I, Promenade Level
Abstract: In the high-pressure world of student services, building a resilient, supportive team culture is essential for both staff well-being and student success. This session will explore how to create a thriving team culture through the principles of vulnerability, trust, and shared purpose, inspired by the works of Brene Brown and Simon Sinek. Attendees will discover practical strategies for fostering open communication, building trust, and cultivating an environment where courage and vulnerability are strengths. Through interactive exercises, participants will identify their team's 'Why,' develop tools for improving team morale, and explore how to integrate equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) practices into their culture. By the end of the session, participants will leave equipped to create an inclusive, psychologically safe space that promotes both student success and team well-being, strengthening connections and fostering resilience within student services.
