Abstract:
The study examines the gap between students' expectations about academic advising and students' actual experience of academic advising. The study is based on two Nigerian universities in the top ten list of the Times Higher Education ranking of Universities. A survey research design is used to examine the gap model of students' expectation of academic advising. The findings of the study will be useful to higher education policy makers and institutions that provide students with academic advising tools. The study recommends that higher education institutions should embed student-centered academic advising approaches to increase student retention and satisfaction.
