Abstract:
|
Helping students adjust to university life is a critical issue for many different student populations. However, with high caseloads, limited time, and increased demands on student and advisor attention, it can be difficult to get students to engage with university resources and to have meaningful conversations with their advisors. This presentation will invite you to consider flipped advising as a solution to that challenge. Through exploring our flipped advising program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, we will discuss how flipped advising can be implemented to prompt students to engage with university resources and information prior to an advising session. Moreover, we will examine how students are encouraged to interactively engage with campus resources that help them to become more engaged in future advising interactions and to take more ownership over their education. |
