Title: Developing "HIP' Peer Mentors Using Reflective Practices
Lead Presenter: Brad Harmon
Date: December 31, 1969    Time: 6:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Room:
Abstract: Learn how a small, private liberal arts university develops peer mentors to be 'high impact mentors' through the use of reflective practices. Participants will learn about the theoretical model that guides peer mentor learning and development. Examples of position descriptions, learning outcomes, training curriculum, examples of reflective activities, and assessment instruments will be shared. In addition, peer mentors will share perspectives on the way these reflective activities guide their learning and growth as part of a community of practice where they learn from each other and apply that learning to their development as mentors. Participants will consider how to intentionally construct their own peer mentor program as a high impact practice using reflective practices.
