Title: A Strong Comeback: Leveraging Strengths-Based Advising to Empower Adult Degree Completers
Lead Presenter: Jane Sanchez Swain
Date: October 27, 2025    Time: 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Room: Milano Ballroom VIII, Promenade Level
Abstract: With 36.8 million adults in the U.S. identified as 'Some College, No Credential' (SCNC), advisors play a critical role in helping them return and succeed. These learners often juggle work, family, financial barriers, and self-doubt, making their path to completion unique. This session explores the SCNC student profile and how an online degree completion program applies a humanistic, strengths-based advising approach to help adult learners reframe past setbacks, build confidence, and persist to graduation. Attendees will gain practical strategies to foster student well-being, improve retention, and empower learners to embrace their potential. Join us to discover how you can help returning students not just earn their degrees-but thrive as they reclaim their academic journey.
