Abstract:
|
Effective academic advising plays a key role in student retention and persistence to graduation. Intensified focus on academic advising makes it imperative that we assess our academic advising programs. NACADA recommends utilizing four documents in the assessment of advising: NACADA's Concept of Academic Advising, Core Values of Academic Advising, Core Competencies, and the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) Standards for Academic Advising Programs. This session, presented faculty from NACADA's Assessment Institute, provides a foundation of assessment, an overview of these Pillar documents, and strategies for using the Pillar documents to develop student learning outcomes for their advising program. |
